& THE SILKIE BANTAMS
Pioneers at the forefront of the Thrustcore revolution, Rick Dangerous & the Silkie Bantams emerged from the seedy slums of southern Sydney in the wee hours of 2013.
Armed with little more than his original teeth, a twinkle in his eye and a hole in his back, Rick has assembled his feathered friends, Oscar de la Talon (guitar), Sir Gregory Peck (bass) and Feather Locklear (drums) to inappropriately suckle at the teat of the Australian music scene.
RD's sound has been described as sexy, repulsive, abusive, and at best, obnoxious with their debut self-titled 2014 EP garnering some serious underground buzz. The lead single The General was an instant fan favourite with its ‘Grip, Squeeze, Twist, Release’ mantra sending mosh-pits into a frenzy. This was followed up in 2016 with the sophomore EP Thrust Machine which spawned the singles ‘Bruja’ and ‘Powdered Sugar’, seeing the band embark on their most audacious headline tours to date. The band was no stranger to the festival circuit either, playing several feverishly received slots including Dead of Winter Festival, Lagerfest and Mojo Burning.
In 2018 the band became a five-piece with the recruitment of JJ Quail on lead guitar and writing began for the next batch of hits. Undoubtedly soon to be Pulitzer Prize recipients, Rick D have once again greased the wheels of artistic progress and birthed a musical opus of unmatched parallel with their funked up new single ‘Sticky’.
Released everywhere on Wednesday 29th April, ‘Sticky’ offers up undeniable lyrical prowess and funk with underlying notes of sexy and stanky. A mesmerizing, stay-up-all-night and tell-all-your-friends triumph, an old-fashioned story of loss, obsession, survival, lasagne punching, and the ruthless machinations of fate. Roll up your sleeves, have a shot of penicillin and bathe in the glory of ‘Sticky’.
Rick Dangerous & the Silkie Bantams are no strangers to thrust-supporting venues up and down the East coast of Australia having toured numerous times since their 2013 inception.
Currently laying the finishing touches on their next unreleased album, the band will hit the road in September, Coronavirus going to plan, for a run of dates on the back of a new single with an album release tour to follow in early 2021.
Prepare your loins for some live and sassy RICK D!

REVIEW + ACCLAIM
“With highly-danceable groove-metal riffage, some of the most clever and hilarious lyrics you’ve heard this century, and a bespectacled tea-sipping frontman who pelvic-thrusts like a sexual maths teacher whilst screaming like a deranged psychopath, Rick Dangerous & the Silkie Bantams have one of the most captivating and entertaining live shows in Australia right now.” MUSIC FEEDS
"So much entertainment value the mere act of blinking could induce FOMO. Shlock Rock has a new face in town, and they’re coming for your tax statements.” SCENESTR
